Question 1

How do I upgrade my plan from Select to Pro?

Accepted Answer

You can seamlessly upgrade to the Pro tier at any time from your Parent Dashboard by navigating to Settings > Plan & Billing. When you upgrade, your account is immediately granted access to the Pro features (Cheat Sheets, Flash Cards, AI Creative Writing, and higher limits on timed mock exam papers where your plan includes them). You will only pay a prorated amount for the remaining time in your current 1-month or 6-month cycle.

Question 2

What happens if I cancel my subscription?

Accepted Answer

If you decide to cancel, your child will absolutely retain full access to their current plan's features until the end of your current billing cycle. After the cycle ends, your account transitions to a restricted state where access is paused, but all their hard-earned progress and coins are safely permanently stored. We never delete student data unless explicitly requested.

Question 3

How does the 6-month billing cycle work?

Accepted Answer

Our 6-month cycle gives you a heavy monthly discount for committing half a year ahead of time. You will be billed upfront for the comprehensive 6-month access block. Wait periods or freezes are currently not supported on 6-month plans, so try to align it perfectly with your peak 11+ revision schedule!

Question 4

How do I add a sibling?

Accepted Answer

Multi-child support is one of our defining features! From the Parent Portal, click 'Add Child'. Note that adding a sibling involves purchasing a secondary seat on your active subscription plan. This keeps their analytics, coins, and avatars completely isolated and fair.

Question 5

Can I get a refund if my child doesn't use it?

Accepted Answer

We firmly believe in our product, which is why we ask parents to commit alongside their child. We generally do not offer refunds for 'unused' time on active plans, but please reach out to our support team if there are exceptional technical or extenuating circumstances.

Question 6

What 11+ examining boards do you cover?

Accepted Answer

Bit1's curriculum has been rigorously aligned to cover all elements found in GL Assessments, CEM (Durham University), and the majority of independent school specific syllabus formats. We cover Maths, English Comprehension, Verbal Reasoning (VR), and Non-Verbal Reasoning (NVR).

Question 7

How does the AI Creative Writing tool work?

Accepted Answer

The 'Story Mountain' tool is designed entirely for the often-feared Creative Writing tie-breaker papers. It guides students through prompt breakdown, structuring (Intro, Build-up, Climax, Resolution), and drafts. Our custom-trained AI then provides instant, constructive, positive feedback focused solely on vocabulary richness and 'show-don't-tell' metrics.

Question 8

Will the questions repeat?

Accepted Answer

While we have thousands of hand-crafted questions in the database, our Spaced Repetition logic intentionally brings back the concepts. This purposeful repetition is the cornerstone of long-term memory retention.

Question 9

Are the mock exams realistically timed?

Accepted Answer

Absolutely. Timed mock exam papers in the student portal use strict timing that mirrors real 11+ pacing. This helps children build stamina and time management, which is often the biggest hurdle to passing.

Question 10

Can we pause a mock exam?

Accepted Answer

No. To protect the integrity of a timed assessment, students cannot pause the countdown. If the internet disconnects, the timer continues. We highly advise parents to ensure a perfectly quiet, stable block is available before clicking start.

Question 11

How are the percentiles calculated?

Accepted Answer

Whenever your child finishes a timed mock exam, their raw score can be standardised against our database of past 11+ students within their year group (Year 4 & Year 5). This prevents panic over a purely difficult test; an 80% raw score might actually translate into the 95th Percentile!

Question 12

How many mock exams do I get?

Accepted Answer

Timed mock exam allowances depend on your subscription tier. Check Plan & Billing in the Parent Portal for the current limits on your plan.

Question 13

How does my child earn coins?

Accepted Answer

Coins are earned systematically. Small amounts are granted for correct answers in practice sets. Massive payouts are generated by completing daily 'Boss Battles', scoring highly in mock exams, or maintaining an unbroken Login streak.

Question 14

Do the games distract from studying?

Accepted Answer

Not at all. In fact, our 'games' (like Flash Envelopes) are deeply educational disguised as fun sorting mechanics. Furthermore, access to the 3D Avatar Customization Room requires spending hard-earned coins, meaning children must actively study to fuel their customizations.

Question 15

Can parents set custom real-world rewards?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Inside the Parent Portal, there is a dedicated Champion Dashboard where you can define physical rewards (like 'Trip to the zoo', 'New Lego Set', or 'A pizza night') and assign a custom coin milestone. When your child hits that milestone, they can 'buy' your reward digitally!

Question 16

Can we buy coins with real money?

Accepted Answer

No. Bit1 is strictly an educational meritocracy. Coins cannot be bought with real fiat currency via micro-transactions.

Question 17

How frequently do I get progress reports?

Accepted Answer

By default, we compile a beautiful 'Weekly Status' email sent every Sunday evening giving you an overview of active streaks, time spent, and weakest subjects. Additionally, the Parent Portal features live, real-time analytics with infinite drill-down capabilities.

Question 18

Can I lock specific sections?

Accepted Answer

Yes, parent controls provide you all the flexibility required to restrict certain sections.

Question 19

How do I compare my child's stats across subjects?

Accepted Answer

We provide an interactive Radar Chart ('Focus Matrix') in your dashboard. It instantly visualizes whether your child is over-indexing in Maths while ignoring English Comprehension, letting you intervene immediately.

Question 20

Does this run on tablets?

Accepted Answer

Yes, Bit1 is highly responsive and runs beautifully on iPads and tablets.

Question 21

Do you have an offline mode?

Accepted Answer

Bit1 requires an active internet connection to constantly synchronize analytics, coin economics, and AI-driven Spaced Repetition algorithms in real-time.

Question 22

My child forgot their sign-in details.

Accepted Answer

No problem. As the Parent, you manage all child accounts. Log into the Parent Portal, navigate to 'Students', and you can instantly generate a temporary reset link or view their linked username.
